With a 17-year career, designer and artist Domingos Tótora lives and creates through nature. Domingos Tótora, from Minas Gerais, set up his studio in his hometown of Maria da Fé to be close to his greatest inspiration. With the concept of sustainability, embraced by many Brazilians, Domingos Tótora creates his designs from recycled cardboard, which he molds into benches, vases, and tables, and imitates stone and wood. Internationally renowned, Domingos Tótora teaches sustainability and loves nature through his creations.
The beauty of his work manifests not only in the final product but also in the process itself. Everything from the artist’s philosophy and respect for the environment to his production process reflects Domingos’ sensitivity, awareness, and deep connections to his roots.
Objects and environment make it clear that this isn’t an obsessive search for perfection. Imperfection is a constitutive part of his work.

The project was created during my work at Mero Studio for the Sage Culture agency.
